206 companies that achieved export success in the textile, ready-made clothing and apparel sectors in Bursa received their awards at a ceremony.
According to the statement made by Uludağ Exporters’ Associations (UIB), the “2021 Silkworm Export Awards” ceremony was held by Uludağ Textile Exporters’ Association (UTİB) and Uludağ Ready-made Clothing and Apparel Exporters’ Association (UHKİB).
Mustafa Gültepe, Chairman of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM), who attended the ceremony, stated that he has been talking only about textiles for 32 years, but from now on, as TIM President, they will put a different signature on Turkey’s export future together with all sectors.
Pointing out that the textile and ready-made clothing industry is at the forefront of different sectors in Turkey with an export figure of over 30 billion dollars, Gültepe said, “These two sectors lead all sector stakeholders with their successful work as well as their ability to produce common strategies and projects. We must always strive to carry our achievements forward by protecting ourselves.” used the phrases.
Pointing out that Bursa is one of the most important cities in both the ready-to-wear and textile sectors, Gültepe said, “Bursa, which has achieved great success by giving foreign trade surplus, has a special place in Turkey’s exports. It is in such a close synchronization to Istanbul, in an environment where distances are shortened. Together, we will achieve much more successful projects.” made a statement.
Nüvit Gündemir, Chairman of the Board of UHKİB, also noted that UHKİB, which reached an export figure of 1 billion dollars with an increase of 32 percent in 2021, broke the record of all time.
Emphasizing that this increase in exports is a result of investments made in R&D, innovation, brand and fashion, Gündemir said, “There are great opportunities for Turkey in textile and apparel in the coming years. In order to turn this situation into an opportunity, we need to attach importance to digitalization in design and production. Its integration into Industry 4.0 will contribute to the competitiveness of our companies in the international arena, increase the market share and make it easier to adapt to the world.” used the phrases.
UTİB Chairman of the Board Pınar Taşdelen Engin stated that they continue to contribute to Turkish textile in 2022 as well, and said, “We give priority to projects that will raise awareness on green production and sustainability. With our TechXtile Platform, Turkey Home Textile Design Competition and Ur-Ge projects, technology and innovative methods can be brought into production. We will continue our efforts to include the inclusion of innovative products, strengthen university-industry cooperation, and ultimately increase the added value in textile exports.” made its assessment.
