Turkey’s Barley Exports Barley exports decreased by 63% in 2020 compared to the previous year and fell to 4,019 tons. Imports, on the other hand, increased by 74.5% in 2020 compared to the previous year and reached 890.063 tons. According to TUIK data, total barley import in the first five months of 2021 was approximately 325 tons, and barley export was approximately 46 tons.
When Turkey’s barley imports are analyzed by countries, it is seen that the countries with the highest imports in 2019 are Ukraine with 35.2% and Russia with 29.8%. In 2020, the countries with the highest imports are Syria with 39.3%, Russia with 25.6% and Latvia with 6.6%.
In 2020, diesel support for barley producers registered in the Farmer Registration System in Turkey is 19 TL/da, fertilizer support is doubled compared to the previous year and 16 TL/da, difference payment support is 10 kr/kg, certified seed usage support is compared to the previous year. With an increase of 88.2%, the product certificate for barley, which is among the 3rd category products of organic agriculture support, was determined as 10 TL/da for individual and 5 TL/ha for the product certificate producer group. In addition, 40 TL soil analysis support was provided to authorized soil analysis laboratories per analysis up to 50 decares of agricultural land or more. Looking at the parities, 0.48 kg of fertilizer, 0.21 liters of diesel oil and 0.53 kg of seeds can be bought for 1 kilogram of barley in 2020. With the addition of subsidies to the barley producer price, 1 kg of barley, 0.59 kg of fertilizer, 0.26 lt of diesel oil and 0.65 kg of seeds can be purchased in 2020.
