Saying that the Aegean Region has an important place in strawberry production and export, especially in Aydın, strawberry production has increased significantly in recent years, Aegean Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Exporters’ Association President Hayrettin Uçar said that they achieved a 160 percent increase in strawberry exports in the Aegean Region in the 2021 January-March period. told.
“In the first three months of 2021, our strawberry exports in Turkey increased by 333 percent and reached 4 million 307 thousand dollars, while in the Aegean Region it reached 839 thousand dollars with an increase of 160 percent. While we were exporting strawberries to 15 countries in the same period last year, we have now increased the number of countries to 29. In 2020, we earned 24 million 590 thousand dollars in return for 25 thousand 600 tons of fresh strawberries. While nearly 60 percent of exports were made to Russia, Russia was followed by Romania, Iraq and Georgia. Especially, we experienced an increase of 188% in strawberry exports to Romania compared to 2019. Our target for 2021 is to increase our exports to 40 million dollars.”
