
A Success Story is Written in Export
In May, exports amounted to 19 billion dollars with an increase of 15 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. Bursa became the 3rd most successful province in exports with 1.2 billion dollars.
Foreign trade figures for May were announced at a meeting attended by Minister of Trade Mehmet Muş and TİM President İsmail Gülle. Speaking at the meeting, Minister Mehmet Muş stated that May exports reached 19 billion dollars with an increase of 15.2 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, and said, “This is the highest May export of all time. Thus, we broke records in the first 5 months by reaching the highest monthly export values in all of the first 5 months of the year.”
May’s export champion chemical industry
Evaluating Turkey’s export performance in May, TİM President İsmail Gülle stated that 15 sectors increased their exports in May. Gülle listed the sectors that export the most as follows: “While our chemical sector, which maintained its strong performance with 2.8 billion dollars this month, was again in the first place, our automotive sector, which reached 2.3 billion dollars, and our steel industry, which achieved an export of 1.9 billion dollars, was the third. it happened.”
Noting that 54 provinces succeeded in increasing their exports in May, Gülle said that the top 3 exporting provinces were Istanbul with 7.5 billion dollars, Kocaeli with 1.6 billion dollars and Bursa with 1.2 billion dollars.
Bursa’s export performance in May
Bursa’s exports in May decreased by 1 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and amounted to 1 billion 181 million 550 thousand dollars.
In this period, while 10 sectors managed to increase their exports, there was a decrease in the exports of 14 sectors. Automotive took the biggest share in Bursa’s May exports. Exports of the automotive sector were recorded as 514 million 874 thousand dollars with a decrease of 9.9 percent compared to the same month of last year. This was followed by the ready-made clothing and apparel industry with exports of 112 million 128 thousand dollars, and textiles with 87 million 288 thousand dollars. The most remarkable increase in exports in the month in question was experienced in the exports of ships, yachts and services. The exports of the sector increased by 1488 percent in May compared to the same month of the previous year, from 512 thousand dollars to 8 million 136 thousand dollars. In May, steel exports increased by 35 percent, and electrical and electronics exports increased by 25 percent.
