ALL-TİME RECORD WAS BROKEN İN AGRİCULTURAL EXPORTS The agricultural sector achieved the highest monthly exports of all time with foreign sales exceeding 2.8 billion dollar last month.
According to the information compiled by AA correspondent from the data of the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly (TIM), Turkey’s exports increased by 19.2 percent last month compared to the same period of 2020 and reached 19 billion 76 million 662 thousand dollars.
Agricultural exports increased by 21.8 percent in October compared to the same period of the previous year and reached 2 billion 840 million 461 thousand dollars. Thus, the agricultural sector realized the highest export sales of all time on a monthly basis. Turkey’s agricultural exports accounted for 14.9 percent of total exports last month. In October, industrial exports increased by 18.8 percent to 15 billion 769 million 914 thousand dollars, and mining exports increased by 18.4% to 466 million 287 thousand dollars.
Cereals, pulses, oilseeds and their products did not leave the leadership
Among the sectors related to agriculture, cereals, pulses, oilseeds and products made the most exports with 903 million 561 thousand dollars last month. Thus, the sector did not leave the leadership in agricultural exports.
Cereals, pulses, oil seeds and their products, furniture, paper and forest products with 615 million 126 thousand dollars, fresh fruits and vegetables with 292 million 381 thousand dollars, aquaculture and animal products with 289 million 497 thousand dollars, hazelnuts and their products with 251 million 315 thousand dollars, 196 million dollars. It was followed by dried fruits and products with 784 thousand dollars, fruit and vegetable products with 181 million 772 thousand dollars, tobacco with 76 million 773 thousand dollars, olive and olive oil with 25 million 274 thousand dollars, ornamental plants and products with 7 million 980 thousand dollars.
Only 1 sector within the agriculture group declined
While 9 out of 10 sectors within the agriculture group increased their exports last month, only 1 sector decreased.
Among the sectors related to agriculture, the sector that increased its exports the most in this period was hazelnut and its products with 46.9 percent. The hazelnuts and products sector is comprised of 35.5 percent, cereals, pulses, oilseeds and products, 23.3 percent, aquaculture and animal products, 16.8 percent, furniture, paper and forest products, 14.9 percent, olive and olive oil, 10 percent. Fresh fruit and vegetables with 8 percent, fruit and vegetable products with 7,9 percent, dried fruits and products with 3 percent, ornamental plants and products with 2,2 percent. The exports of the tobacco sector, on the other hand, lost 3.8 percent.
